SPL Tryout Camp Program
The Tryout Camp will consist of a combine camp. Participants will take part in basketball skill tests i.e. agility, weight lifting (185 lbs.), sprinting and leaping drills. On the final day of camp each participant will play in open run games and will be evaluated by team coaches within the SPL league. How to get into the SPL? Based upon a participants' performance from the open run games, players will be drafted onto a league team. Every effort will be made to give each participant an equal shot to be drafted onto a league team. The 2012 Summer Pro League will begin in July 2012 and last one month. The league will feature up to 12 teams with a maximum of 12 players on each team roster. Each team will play a total of 16 regular season games (four games per week) throughout the month of July 2012. The league's top two teams with the best records will play in the SPL championship game, which will be held after the regular season. Exact dates and times will be determined at a later date.
How to Gain Direct Entry onto an SPL Team
1. Player is on the roster of a participating agent team
2. Player is a member of a National Team that is participating in the SPL
3. Attended one of the following (2011 or 2012) post season camps: Portsmouth Invitation, Chicago Pre-Draft
4. Played in the NBA, ABA, IBL, NBDL or highest professional divisions in Europe, Asia, Latin America or Australia during at least one of the following seasons (2010, 2011, 2012)
Please note: ALL FINAL DECISIONS ON LEAGUE DIRECT ENTRY TO BE MADE BY DEPARTMENT OF PLAYER PERSONNEL. Applications will be evaluated on a first-come-first-served basis.
Summer Pro League Advantages
Besides providing a summer basketball forum for NBA luminaries, the SPL serves as a showcase for lesser-known young talent. These players use the League as a vehicle to fulfill their dreams of playing professional basketball.
SPL provides these players with an international platform upon which they can exhibit their basketball prowess to the scouts from the NBA and every other major professional league in the world.
- Scouts from the NBA, NBDL, ABA, Europe, Latin America, Asia, and Australia
- League games are available on videotape through the Video Scouting Service.

(Note: A Direct Entry player has professional experience and must submit a resumé with his fee of $185. It is recommended that applications for Direct Entry be made early. There are a limited number of spots for Direct Entry participants.)
